Heh heh, ummmm, soooooo…this is awkward. Remember the whole brand new Sarahcentric site? The stunning beauty that would make your eyes water and hair stand on end? Yyyyyeah, well…I kinda blew it. You see, all I really needed to do was change DNS name servers to point to my new web hosting. I didn’t need to do a full domain transfer.

Oh wait, did I just bore you? I’m not surprised, because I found the whole situation incredibly boring myself. Here’s what you need to know; when you change DNS name servers, magic will happen within a few hours. When you transfer domains, it may take FIVE TO SEVEN DAYS. Or maybe it’s happening right now. Who knows?! WHO KNOWS?!! HAHAHA!

Why is it that the first process is soooo much quicker than the domain transfer?! Nothing takes 5 to 7 days anymore! I’m pretty sure you can even do a calendar week in less than 7 days if you paid a little extra!! How can this be?! It is 2008! Obviously, DNS name server changes are managed by forwarding thinking people. Maybe George Jetson heads up the DNS servers department for Mr. Spacely! But the Domain TRANSFER, well that’s a historical process whose tradition and time must be respected. My domain transfer has to be ratified by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia, just like the Declaration of Independence. Days and days of arguing the merits of transferring my domain name before final approval! HAHAHA, this is great..HILARIOUS!!

I mean, it’s fine. FINE. I’ll just wait. I’ll wait, I’ll wait, we’ll wait, we’ll WAIT! Fine, I’m breezy and easy-going!

Hmmm, you know what I wish I had right now? A basketball. I wish I had a basketball.. in my apartment… that I could throw repeatedly at the wall as hard as I could. Uh huh, yeah. It may not speed up the process, but it would feel really damn good.

Ahhhhhhhhh, breathe in. Breathe out.

We’ll need to hold off on the Graham Cracker coffee giveaway until everything is fully transferred. My apologies for the delay, but I swear I’m working on it. In fact, there is a horse and buggy waiting outside to take me to Philadelphia to explain to John Adams why he must approve this domain transfer. I’ll send Paul Revere back to you guys with any news.

Internal Memo from Brain December 5, 2008

My brain knows it’s supposed to write a big, beautiful something tonight. But I just got an email marked high priority saying it’s way too swamped to do anything right now. Apparently, Brain is all wrapped up in the stress of so many New Yorkers getting laid off today because the economy decided to go on a last minute vacation. Meanwhile, the world keeps dumping all of these other tasks on Brain’s desk like work, the holidays, life goals, relationship stuff, etc. (And you know the world needed that stuff done yesterday … of course!) Brain is also involved with my friends who are going through some very similar ups and downs right now. And all of this when poor Brain is tied up trying to get the new Sarahcentric re-design up and running, which is so rockin’ Brain is scared that it might just melt!

“So Sarah, can you take care of this one little post for me? I promise, I’ll be back on track by Monday!  Thaaaaaaaaanks!  I owe you lunch at Chipotle or something!”

I cannot believe Brain is doing this to me right now! Why can’t Brain delegate responsibility and manage all of this?! Ughhh, I really need to get some personal coaching for Brain! Whatever. Not my problem! Life stuff just freaking happens. Days like this make life seem happy, thrilling, boring and a big a-hole…all at the same time. If I try to micro-manage it, the more complicated it’s going to get. So Brain can do whatever the hell it wants, but I’m not getting in the middle of all this. I’m going to let this all play out on its own.

So here’s my contribution for today with my brain out of the way. It’s a picture of me after a morning hike on the Appalachian Trail last summer. I was all agro-athlete at the beginning of the hike and quickly became cranky New Yorker when we got lost. I moved to sweaty and exhausted as we climbed higher. But I made it to the summit…quiet and peaceful. Then I hiked all the way back down and moved forward with the rest of my day.

I think this hands-off approach to life management might be just what I need right now. Brain would be making this all so much more complicated. God, can you imagine all of the meetings Brain would be calling right now?!

Best of Both Worlds December 3, 2008

Thank you all so much for coming today. We have a lot of important Sarahcentric business to take care of, but let me make a quick announcement before we get down to the nitty gritty.

I love Egg Nog.

I love Egg Nog so much I wish I could find another purpose beyond it’s holiday treat status. Maybe it could be a facial treatment?

Egg Nog is so delicious I’m certain this is what angels in heaven pour on their morning cereal before angel school. That cereal is nothing less than moons and stars in a golden bowl, and is served by a unicorn or a My Little Pony. So wait…maybe angels eat Lucky Charms?

Drinking one glass of pre-made egg nog in my apartment significantly increases the chances that a group of Dickensian carolers will burst into my apartment to serenade me with old-timey carols. That’s how I justify the extra calories. I can’t afford to miss that kind of Christmas miracle.

And finally, I ONLY like the Southern Comfort brand egg nog that shows up in the supermarket every holiday season. I’m not saying that homemade isn’t more delicious. But it’s only ever offered to me when I show up late at a drunken holiday party, sitting in a punch bowl for at least 3 days in a Queens apartment kitchen with questionable food safety standards. No, thank you.

Ohhhhh-kay! Now that Egg Nog is off the table. Let’s move on to the next point of business.

Next Monday, December 8th, in the year of our Lord 2008, Sarahcentric will have a brand new look as conceived by the very talented Chris Ammons. The switch begins this weekend, but Monday is when it’s all official and the party really gets going.

In honor of the site’s new blinding beauty, I will be hosting my very first blog giveaway! Two lucky readers will win a pound of my cherished Graham Cracker Coffee! But that’s not all, the two lucky SOBs will also win the comfiest, Greenest accessory of them all; a handmade coffee cozy from my friend Kim’s Etsy shop, The Doe and The Mouse. Good stuff, good stuff, good stuff. All you gotta do is comment on Monday’s post for one entry. And if you think have the prunes, tell everyone about Sarahcentric and the giveaway on your own blog for TWO entries! Just be sure to link to it in your comment over here. Don’t worry, we’ll go over all of this again on Monday. No need to take any serious notes right now.

But if you’re just itching to delve further into my world, why not explore other Sarahcentric worlds on the interweb?

You can follow me in 140 characters or less here on Twitter. I am woman of few words…on Twitter, that is.

Or if you want to take me to Miley Cyrus status, consider becoming a fan on Facebook.

I am honored and humbled to follow in the footsteps of all those Facebook celebrities of whom I have personally become a fan. That list includes Fraggle Rock, sleep, A Christmas Story pumpkin pie and coffee.

I wonder if I will need an alter-ego like Hannah Montana to maintain a normal lifestyle now that I’m a Facebook celebrity?

Egg Nog better be in the fridge of my Facebook trailer or heads will roll!
